The Greene Center began its journey as the site of Kenna Elementary. The school operated on the site for approximately 74 years. The current building was built in 1960. After the new elementary school opened in 2014, the old site was donated by the Greene family and the Southern Jackson County Community Foundation was started to operate the new Greene Center. The Southern Jackson County Community Foundation board of directors, executive committee, and volunteers have worked hard to establish the infrastructure and complete the necessary work to get the center up and running to serve the community.
The mission of the Greene Center is to provide Kenna and the surrounding areas with a facility that is affordable, accessible and safe for educational, physical and social events for residents of all ages.
